Based on the book The Problem With Math is English, our presentation will focus on the language and comprehension challenges that many learners face and that impede their success. Students who struggle with vocabulary, meaning, syntax, and/or context due to language, literacy, or other learning barriers are at a disadvantage. The session will focus on ways to reduce the language load while maintaining mathematical rigor.
