Call for Proposals & Submissions
1. How do I apply to be a speaker? There is a form to complete. Please select the correct form link. |
2. What are the important deadlines? The Call for Proposals deadline is May 18. Notification of acceptance by May 21. Submit the completed presentation by July 11. Present at the conference on July 31.
3. How do you select which proposals get accepted? Members of District Five's Curriculum & Instruction team evaluated each submission.
Session Logistics
1. How long are the speaking slots, and what format is expected? Concurrent sessions are 50 minutes each. A wide variety of formats are acceptable, but they need to engage the audience.
2. What audio/visual equipment will be provided? Each room has a Promethean Panel with either a USB-C docking station or a direct HDMI connection.
Promotions & Materials
1. How can I promote my session to attendees? Once sessions are live, you will be able to share via email, social media, etc.
Post-Event Materials
1. Will my presentation be shared? Yes, each presentation will be included on that session's page after the event.
2. Can I get attendee feedback from my session? Session feedback is available after the session from your speaker's view.
Venue & Logistics
1. Location: James F. Byrnes High School, 150 E. Main St. Duncan, SC 29334 | The convocation will be held in the District Five Fine Arts Center. Most concurrent sessions will be centrally located on the three levels around the center of Byrnes High School.
2. Parking: Limited parking is available on campus. Lots that are available include the "Senior Lot" near Schofield Gymnasium, the "Underclassmen Lot" near Nixon Field, the teacher lot across the street from Byrnes High School, and the grass field near Duncan Elementary.
3. Is free Wi-Fi available? All district staff should use their district credentials to join the network. Outside presenters will be greeted by a member of our technology support staff to connect to Wi-Fi.
